WHAT THE STUDIO WANTS YOU TO KNOW
DESCRIPTION:
Carl Allen has stumbled across
a way to shake free of post-divorce blues and a dead-end job: embrace life
and say yes to everything. Take a bungee plunge? Yes. Accept call-now offers?
Yes. Learn Korean? Yes. Grab the first flight anywhere? Yes. Win your dream
girl? Yes. Crack up fans with a feel-good, laugh-loaded romp? Yes! Working
every funny bone in his nimble body and every muscle in his hilariously
mobile face, Jim Carrey plays Carl in a YEScapade about opening up to life's
possibilities - especially when thiose possibilities include romance wit
an intriguing, free-spirited muscisian (Zooey Deschanel). From the director
of Bring It On and The Break-Up comes an invitation to discover
the comedy power of yes.

-
This movie is based on the book of the same name written
by Danny Wallace who chronicled his own year-long adventure in which he
said yes to everything. He also has a cameo in the film as the "Man In
Bar".
-
Jim Carrey had no salary for this film instead his contract
stated that he would receive 36.2% of the film's profits, not including
video rentals and sales, that would put his pay check at roughly 5.7 million.
-
Jim Carrey insisted on doing the bungee jump stunt himself
in the film. However this caused a nightmare with insurance companies who
did not want to insure the movie with risking the lead actor in such a
dangerous stunt. The insurance company negotiated an agreement with two
stipulations, one that the scene be filmed last so if there were any injuries
it would not interfere with the shooting schedules. And second that they
would only have one take to get in all of their shots. As a result four
separate cameras were used to capture the jump, which went off without
any injury. However Carrey did suffer three broken ribs filming the scene
in which he runs into the waitress. During one take he hit the ground too
hard and suffered the unexpected injury.
-
When Carl Allen (played by Jim Carrey) is in the video store
for the second time, he can be seen renting the film The Cable Guy,
and in the back ground The Number 13 is playing on the stores' televisions,
both are movies that Carrey previously starred in.
-
Jack Black was originally considered for the role of Carl
Allen before Jim Carrey became interested in the part.
