• The film takes place in and around the Plaza Mayor in the city of Salamanca, Spain. The film was actually shot in Mexico and a large replica of the Plaza Mayor was constructed for specifically for the film. Originally producers had tried to get permission to film in Spain, however officials there refused to close the Plaza Mayor for filming.
