TRIVIA TO IMPRESS YOUR EASILY IMPRESSED FRIENDS

• This film is based on the book of the same name written by Walter Kim.
• The majority of the people shown being fired in this movie were not actors. Jason Reitman put out an ad in St. Louis that he was shooting a documentary about the recession and he wanted to talk to people affected by the recent recession. He took the unemployed people, sat them down in front of the camera and told them to treat the camera like it was the person who fired them and to say all of the things said when they were fired, or wished they had said in retrospect.
• There is no special reward given to customers who reach 10 million frequent flier miles as depicted in the movie. However this a reward for reaching 1 million miles, a feat that has been accomplished by approximately 400,000 people world-wide.
• Vera Farmiga's nude scenes were shot using a body double as Farmiga was still lactating after the recent birth of her child.
• George Clooney's character in this film is named Ryan Bingham, which also happens to be the name of a folk musician who won an Oscar this same year alone with T-Bone for his work on the film Crazy Heart. There is no relation however between the character in this film and the real Ryan Bingham.
