    Eastwood and Morgan Freeman play retired, down-on-their-luck outlaws who pick up their guns one last time to collect a bounty offered by the vengeful prostitutes of the remote Wyoming town of Big Whisky. Richard Harris is the ill-fated interloper, a colorful killer-for-hire called English Bob. And Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner Gene Hackman is the sly and brutal local sheriff whose brand of law enforcement ranges from unconventional to ruthless. Big trouble is coming to Big Whisky. And Unforgiven is a "Western for the ages " (Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times).

Notes:

• The script for this movie was completed and floated around Hollywood for almost 20 years. Gene Hackman himself even rejected the movie only to take a role in the project at the personal request of Clint Eastwood. Eastwood actually had the script for a number of years, but the advice of his script reader didn't read it as he was told it wasn't very good, of course when Eastwood read it he liked it immediately.
• This movie is dedicated to Sergio and Don, which are Sergio Leone and Don Siegel which were Eastwood's teachers in the business.
• Eatswood said this would be the last movie he would direct and star in, of course he then went on to star in five more of his own movies.
• This movie was nominated for 9 Academy Awards, it won Best Picture, Director (Eastwood), Supporting Actor (Hackman), and Film Editing (Joel Cox). It was nominated and lost for Best Actor (Eastwood), Screenplay (Peoples), Cinematography, Art Direction, and Sound.
