• This movie is based on the book New Moon written by Stephanie Meyer. This is a sequel to the book and film Twilight.
• This film was released on November 16, 2009, which according to the lunar calendar falls on a "new moon" lunar cycle.
• This film grossed 72.7 million dollars in one day, breaking the record set by The Dark Night the year before.
• Originally Tyler Lautner was supposed to be replaced in the sequel by another more muscular man as it was thought that it would not be physically possible to gain enough mass needed for the part. However this decision was changed was Lautner gained 25 pounds of muscle prior to filming.
• All of the members of the "wolf pack" had to have papers proving they were full blooded Natvie Americans. Once this was shown all of them went to wolf training camp to bond and gain muscle.
