TRIVIA TO IMPRESS YOUR EASILY IMPRESSED FRIENDS

• This movie is based on the book of the same name written by Stephanie Meyer.
• When the three evil vampires appear during the baseball game they are all wearing little slippers painted to look like bare feet so as to protect the actors feet from the muddy field.
• Robert Pattinson had never even heard of the Twilight books before he starred in the movies. In fact he only went to the audition because he has heard he would have the chance to act with Kristen Stewart whose work he had scene in the film Into The Wild. He ended up beating out 5000 other would be Edward Cullens.
• Robert Pattinson is also an accomplished song writer and guitar player in his free time. Over the years he had amassed quite a few songs but had never really done anything with them. Kristen Stewart heard the songs and immediately took them to director Catherine Hardwicke who also fell in love with his songs. Subsequently two of his songs appeared in the film, and one of them on the film's soundtrack.
• Author Stephanie Meyer had a wish list of people she presented to the studio when her book was optioned, they were Emily Browning as Bella Swan, Henry Cavill as Edward Cullen, Charlie Hunnam as Carlisle Cullen, Mary-Louise Parker as Esme Cullen, Rachael Leigh Cook as Alice Cullen, Trent Ford as Jasper Hale, Tom Welling as Emmett Cullen and Olivia Wilde as Rosalie Hale. None of the people on her list were able to be cast in the film.
