The battle for Earth continues

The role of Leo Spitz was originally offered to Jonah Hill
who read the script and had initially agreed to do the film, however a
firm contract was never established and the role ended up going to

This film was released in theaters on the exact 25th anniversary
of the introduction of the original Transformers cartoon series.

Three days of shooting on location in Egypt was granted by
an Egyptian government official and archaeologist Zahi Hawass, who did
so because he was such a fan of the first Transformers film, and
because Michael By personally promised him that no buildings would be destroyed.

Hasbro, the toy company that owns the rights to the Transformers
became more involved in the design of the characters for this film, something
they had not requested in the first film. They specifically stated they
wanted some robots featured in the film which could interconnect with each
other, presumably so they could sell toys that followed this same design
pattern.

Director Michael Bay felt that Megan Fox was actually too
thin at the start of the film. As a result he asked her to go on a "cake-diet",
which she did. In a matter of three weeks time the actress reportedly gained
10 pounds, eating a diet that consisted primarily of various kinds of cake.
