THE KID'S
REVIEW OF:
MR. AND
MRS. SMITH
- THE UNRATED
VERSION
OPENING THOUGHTS
If you were to put two of the most beautiful
people in the world in a movie together, add real life drama and a kick
ass script, you're bound to get fireworks right? Well it worked for Chairman
Of The Board, starring Carrot Top and Courtney Thorne-Smith. And with
Mr. And Mrs. Smith.
ACTING
ANGELINA
JOLIE is a work or art. More specifically, a masterpiece. A master
piece of ass! Yeah! Ha ha! Anyway... I can honestly say she's never looked
better, kicked more ass, or appeared to have more fun than in this movie.
Maybe it was due to the fact that during filming she had her co-star pumping
her so hard and fast she didn't know which way was up. I couldn't say.
But I can say that she is 1/3 of the reason this movie works so well, she's
totally believable as a house wife, a spy and a lover no longer happy with
her home life. I think one of the reasons I like Jolie so much is because
she has a desire to make her world better a place but can also go do movies
that that are fun and well made. With the exception of Life Or Something
Like It.
BRAD PITT
is the lucky son of a bitch that is fucking my future wife. Thanks Brad
for warming her up for me. Pitt is also 1/3 of why this movie isn't a total
disaster and a straight to video pile of shit. Again, the chemistry between
Jolie and Pitt is so palpable that Helen Keller could pick up on it. But
Pitt is also one hell of an actor, yes he may be gorgeous and women have
to take a mop with them into the theatre just to watch his movies, but
he does his damn homework. He comes off so damn natural and calm that it
makes me wanna puke. I highly suggest watching the behind the scenes shit
on the movies he's in, this one included, cause it really gives in insight
as to how much this guy know about his art.
THE SUPPORTING CAST... ok Vince Vaughn
has become the standard "go to guy." You need a crazy best friend, wacky
landlord, eccentric auto mechanic? Call up Vaughn. Or Christopher Walken.
Oh shit! Get them BOTH in a movie playing father and son... sorry, I digress.
Vaughn plays John Smith's friend and partner in the spy business. He's
fucking hilarious and has managed to make some good one-liners even though
he's onscreen for maybe 15 minutes.
DIRECTION AND
SCRIPT
DOUG LIMAN
didn't have a whole lot of success prior to this, he did Swingers
and The Bourne Identity which were both really good. It's surprising
this movie comes off as well as it does. In fact, I credit Liman as being
the final 1/3 of why this movie works. The attention to detail he has,
the performances he got from the actors, the tone and look of the movie
are all credit to him and his direction. The comedy is spot on, the action
is amazing and the drama that unfolds is superbly done. I actually found
myself interested as to what was going to happen at the end.
SIMON
KINBERG needed a good thing on his resume real bad cause up to this
point he was a royal fuck up with xXx: State of the Union. So he
managed to whip up this little baby, which easily could've bombed with
a different cast and/or director. Now I don't wanna go so far as to say
that the script isn't good, cause that's simply not true. It is however
the weakest link in the chain. The actors, the director, the cinematographer,
composer... all are solid, and that makes up for a less than stellar story.
I'm not saying the premise isn't clever or funny, it is... I'm just saying
that had any of the other factors failed, this would've been a nightmare.
Unfortunately for Kinberg, nothing came together on his follow up project,
X-Men: The Last Stand... I bet he's looking for another opportunity
to prove that he's not a one hit wonder.
THEVERDICT
This movie is a great example of how "big
budget" "popcorn movies" don't have to suck harder than Hefe sucks off
G Baby. The characters were larger than life but believable, the action
was well done and fun, the storyline was outlandish but never condescending
to its audience and most of all the whole damn thing was sexier than shit.
