THE JANITOR'S REVIEW OF:
12 MONKEYS (1995)

OPENING THOUGHTS

I've seen this movie sitting in G Baby's DVD case for quite some time now, but I never really wanted to see it. Well one day I had my fill of mopping and decided that I was going to watch a movie that was both intellectually stimulating and visually entertaining, but unfortunately The Kid was already watching G Baby's copy of Mean Girls, so I grabbed 12 Monkeys instead.

ACTING

BRUCE WILLIS is a good actor for the most part, but after seeing him in this film I noticed how limited his acting style really was, and this was an older movie. But I do enjoy the movies that he's in, so I must like him right? I guess you can say that his movies really fit him as an actor. Then again, I really wasn't too impressed with this movie.
BRAD PITT is a decent retard, but not when he's acting, he's still Too beautiful to make a believable crazy. I just kept looking at his hair when he was bouncing around like a lunatic, what an amazing head of hair he has! Oh wait, was he acting? I couldn't tell, but look at those glowing teeth... Hmm... he must be psycho.
MADELEINE STOWE was unconvincing as a true doctor. There is no way that a doctor would compromise her integrity in the way that she did. I guess that I can't hold the script against her, I mean, that's not her fault right? I guess I can say that her acting was decent for how difficult her role must have been, but it doesn't excuse the fact that she selected a part that was unbelievable... I guess I would have too... shit.

DIRECTION AND SCRIPT

TERRY GILLIAM directed this film? Holy shit, I didn't know that until I just looked it up! Wow, he was kinda working out of his element wasn't he? I can honestly say that I liked the feel of this movie, I'm not sure what he was going for, but I felt depressed and hopeless. Which is what I think he was going for...
DAVID PEOPLES and JANET PEOPLES wrote the script for this movie. I'm not sure how I feel about that, I mean, the movie was just so-so, but then again I am a little sore because I was wanting to see Lindsay Lohan. I guess for what the movie was, they did a good job on the script. It's nice to see a married couple working together and not yelling at each other.

THE VERDICT

I guess that this movie could have been a lot worse. There were some entertaining parts, but more importantly there were some thought provoking scenes as well. I guess if I have to give it a rating I'm going to give it a C. I wasn't completely bored through this movie, but I wasn't enthralled either... I may need to watch it again.
