-
Originally the role of John Connor was written as a small
cameo, however after reading the script Christian Bale agreed to do the
film if they could make John Connor the lead. The script was then promptly
rewritten around the John Connor.
-
This is the first film in the Terminator series to
not receive an R rating, instead being cut down to receive a PG-13 rating.
-
While filming an intense scene Christian Bale became distracted
by cinematographer Shane Hurlbut and went off on a profanity-laden rant
at the worker. The infamous debacle was caught on film and was leaked on
the internet, after which Bale publicly apologized and stated that Hurlbut
and he were on good terms.
-
The old recordings of Sarah Connor heard in the film are
similar to lines heard in the previous films, however they were recorded
especially for the film by Linda Hamilton who originated the role. She
did not receive a film credit for the voice work.
-
Arnold Schwarzenegger was asked to play a cameo in the film,
however he declined, feeling that showing up in such a small role would
"cheat" the fans. So instead the makers of the film used special effect
to digitally transplant Schwarzenegger's face over another actor's real
one.
-
4 time Oscar-winning special effects guru Stan Winston died
while making this film, however before his death he filmed a cameo. He
plays a white-haired prisoner that can be seen shortly after the raid on
the gas station.
-
This film had several last minute uncredited rewrites done
by Paul Haggis, Shawn Ryan, Anthony E. Zuker and Jonathan Nolan. The shooting
script had changed so much from the original approved shooting script,
that it was described as unrecognizable.
