In Poland this film was released under the name The Electronic
Murderer.

Debra Winger originally given the part of Sarah Connor after
auditioning, however she declined the part when it was offered and the
part was given to Linda Hamilton.

Originally James Cameron wanted to have this movie set in
the future, however he was unable to get a big enough budget to create
a futuristic world and instead opted to set it in current time out of necessity.

Classic Sci-fi novelist Harian Ellison attempted to sue James
Cameron for the similarity of this story to several of his short stories
and television episodes he wrote for The Outer Limits. The case
was settled out of court and from then on Ellison received a credit in
the film.

In the original screenplay The Terminator had to eat to keep
his human flesh sustained, however this was cut from the final version
of the film. In Terminator 3 a scene depicting Schwarzenegger eating
a candy bar was cut after poor reactions from test audiences.

This filming of this movie was delayed for 9 months while
Arnold Schwarzenegger finished filming Conan The Destroyer. James
Cameron used this time to write the script for Aliens.

The line "I'll be back" ranks as one of the most quotable
lines from films over and over again, however the line was somewhat improvised
on set. The line was written as "I'll come back" according to the original
shooting script.
