• This movie is based on the book of the same name by William Steig who died during the production of the film, which was later dedicated to his memory.
• This is the first time a sequel has been nominated for an Oscar in the Best Animated Film category.
• Became the highest grossing animated film of all time in 2004.
• Antonio Banderas also voiced Puss In Boots in the both the Latin American and Spanish versions of the film, altering his dialect to make the voice still sound funny in the region it was being shown in.
• The screenwriters of the original Shrek movie had wanted to make another film that was parodying specific fairy tales rather than a completely original story, as a result they dropped of the project.
