TRIVIA TO IMPRESS YOUR EASILY IMPRESSED FRIENDS

On the main DVD menu screen if you keep pressing left eventually a pyramid with dot in the center of it will light up. If you click it you will unlock an Easter Egg that plays the full Fruity Oaty Bar commercial. Joss Whedon said that he was inspired to make the commercial by the Mr. Sparkle commercial in The Simpsons.
When River gets put to sleep by Dr. Simon Tam he says: "Eta Kooram Nah Smeck!" which in Russian means "This is for hen's to laugh!" which is a saying that essentially means "this is very ridiculous."
The make-out scene between Kaylee and Simon reportedly took 20 takes, and the one actually used in the film was the last one that was shot.
