Robert Downey Jr., Woody Harrelson, Winona Ryder and Rory Cochrane play strung-out friends terrified of each other and of spies. TRIVIA TO IMPRESS YOUR EASILY IMPRESSED FRIENDS

This film is based on the book of the same name by Philip K. Dick. Dick reportedly wrote the book based on his own experiences with drugs.
Several attempts were made to adapt this book into a film. In the early 1990's Terry Gilliam tried to gain rights to make the film, and years later Charlie Kaufman wrote an adaptation to the film that was never used.
Robert Downey Jr. had trouble remembering his lines, and as a result he ended up writing his lines on post-its and sticking them around the set. Due to the unique filming and animation process, the post-its were simply animated over so they are not seen in the final process.
