• Both the writer, Carl Ellsworth, and director, Wes Craven, had cameos in the movie. But Craven's scene did not make it in the movie because he could not keep a straight face. Ellsworth can be seen in the airplane terminal wearing a green Outkast sweater.
• An incredible amount of detail went into props for the fake airline used in the film. There were even fake airline tickets made for all the passengers, that included a list of 12 Terms and Conditions just like a real airline. However the last term reads: "All the provisions of this Passenger Ticket and Baggage Claim Check are completely bogus. It's all a bunch of excessive detail, and if you happen to reading this you've got too much time on your hands. Bring a good book next time."
• Wes Craven found time to get married while this film was shooting.
• Originally the pen that Cillian Murphy was stabbed with was supposed to have a Bart Simpson on the end of it, however, the rights could not be secured so a monster was used instead.
• This was Carl Ellsworth's first project in Hollywood, and he stated numerous times he was worried that he would be replaced at any moment. He was not, however he had written the script for Sean Penn and Robin Wright-Penn, who were rejected by Wes Craven who said they needed younger people.
