TRIVIA TO IMPRESS YOUR EASILY IMPRESSED FRIENDS

• Early on in the development of this film it was originally titled Black Mask.
• In the film you can see Lance eating a bowl of Fruit Brute, a cereal that was discontinued several years ago. The box is owned by Tarantino himself who has held on to the old box for years, and used the box in this movie as well as in Reservoir Dogs. Tarantino also lent his wallet that reads "Bad motherfucker" to Samuel L. Jackson for his role as Jules.
• Samuel L. Jackson had auditioned for Reservoir Dogs, but the part ended up going to Tim Roth. Tarantino loved Jackson's audition, and as a result he wrote the part of Jules specifically for Jackson in this film.
• The word "fuck" is said 271 times.
• This movie had a modest budget of about 8 million dollars. Only about 3 million was used for production costs, the remaining 5 million went to pay the actors.
• Daniel Day-Lewis and Bruce Willis both wanted to play the role of Vincent, but Tarantino turned both of them down in favor of John Travolta. Willis only got the role of Butch after Matt Dillion refused to commit himself to the role.
• Uma Thurman said that she based her dancing in the famous dance scene after Dutchess in The Aristocats, while Travolta says his moves were inspired by Batsui in Adam West's Batman series.
• The character Vince Vega, played by Travolta, is supposed to be the brother of Vic Vega who was Mr. Blonde in Reservoir Dogs.
