This film is based on the popular video game of the same name. However there are several references to another video game franchise Assassin's Creed, such as some of the stunts as well as the use of "Hassassins".
Orlando Bloom and Zac Efron were both considered for the part of Dastan before the role was given to Jake Gyllenhaal.
