The newspaper showing the pictures of the striking Santas
shows that they are protesting at the Lone Pine Mall, the same mall featured
in Back To The Future, another film directed by Robert Zemeckis.

As a tribute to long time friend Steven Spielberg, Robert
Zemeckis put in a scene where the elves talk about a bad little boy in
New Jersey named Steven who is mean to his sisters. Speilberg has said
in interviews that he used to terrorize his sisters, and also grew up in
New Jersey.

The main character in this film does not ever have his name
revealed, he is listed in the credits only as hero boy.

This movie was the first movie filmed using entirely digital
motion capture technology. It received a nod for this in the Guinness Book
Of World Records. It was also the first movie in history to have a simultaneous
IMAX release.
