This film is based on the book of the same name by Stephen
King.

William Sadler who played Bill in this film, was the voice
of David Drayton in the audio version of Stephen King's book.

Although studio execs vetoed the suggestion, director Frank
Darabont wanted this film to be shot entirely in black and white. His dream
was later realized however, on the 2 disc DVD you can watch the film in
black and white as Darabont had intended it to be seen.

Frank Darabont only agreed to doing this project with dimension
under the condition that they would not make him change the ending of the
film which he penned himself.
