• Jennifer Ehle was original cast as Michael Clayton's girlfriend in this film, however all of her scenes ended up being cut from the film. Of those cut scenes only one can be seen on the deleted scenes on the DVD.
• The book featured in this film callde Realm And Conquest is not a real book, it was made it up specifically for the movie.
• Writer/director Tony Gilroy made his directorial debut with this film, much of the film is shot near his hometown of Orange County, New York.
