Howard Stern was initially offered the role of Tom Dobbs,
but had to turn down the role because of his commitments to his radio show.

Robin Williams said he based his character on a mixture of
his own stand up routines, as well as the Jay Leno's monologues on the
Tonight
Show.

During the Thanksgiving scene, a TV with a skit starring
Billy Crystal and Robert De Niro can be seen. This was a commercial directed
by Barry Levinson, the writer/director of this film, it was an ad to promote
tourism to New York City after the 9/11 attack.
