-
The tanks that were seen lined up in a row in the film, were
supplied by a real Chezk gunrunner who gave the stipulation that the tanks
had to be returned timely so that he could make his sale of the tanks to
another country. The filmmakers also had to warn NATO of the scene being
filmed so that they did not mistake the satellite imagery for a real war
zone.
-
Real arms dealers also supplied over 3000 real AK-47's for
the movie, director Andrew Niccols said that he did this for insight, and
because the arms dealers charged less than the studio did for props and
were also easier to work with.
-
This film was funded nearly entirely with foreign funds as
no US studio would back the making of the film.
-
This film is based on a true events, however the main character
is actually a composite of 5 different dealers.
