WHAT THE STUDIO WANTS YOU TO KNOW
DESCRIPTION:
Next-door neighbors John Gustafson
and Max Goldman are Grumpy Old Men. And since they're played by
Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, they're also Funny Old Men. The stars of
the film The Odd Couple pair up again in this hilarious and heartwarming
story of neighborhood curmudgeons whose long-running feud becomes an all-out
rivalry when an attractive widow (Ann-Margret) moves into the house across
the street.
Snowy Minnesota provides the setting
as Max and John unleash an uproarious blizzard of practival jokes and zingers.
Burgess Meredith, Daryl Hannah, Ossie Davis, Kevin Pollak and Buck Henry
add star-packed support to snow-packed shenanigans that "will cure your
blahs and jump-start your heart" (Rex Reed, New York Observer).

-
This film was originally scheduled to be released in August
of 2008, however after negative reviews from test audiences were received,
the studio decided to re-shoot and integrate new scenes in the movie to
make the film more "action-packed". As a result the film did not get released
until February of 2009 at the Berlin Film Festival.
-
This film is loosely based on the highly publicized scandals
of The Bank of Credit & Commerce International, which took place in
the late 1980's and early 1990's.
-
A full scale replica of the inside of the Guggenheim Museum
was built in an abandoned warehouse building. The replica took nearly 4
months to build, and was virtually destroyed during filming.
