-
This is third installment in the Indiana Jones series,
originally it was supposed to be the final film in the series, however
after years of fans begging for another film a fourth film was released
in 2008 titled Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.
-
Sean Connery was Speilberg's first choice to play Indiana
Jones' father, partly because he had always wanted to direct a James Bond
film, and he thought that it was fitting that Connery who had was the first
James Bond, would be the father of Indiana Jones.
-
Harrison Ford suggested River Phoenix to play the younger
version of himself. When Phoenix was given the part he had said he based
his character not on the Indiana Jones character, but rather based it on
Harrison Ford himself. He did this by watching Ford interact with people
on set outside of character.
-
Chris Columbus turned in a script for the third film that
was not used in which Indy travels to Africa and has to fight a Monkey
Prince.
-
George Lucas actually owned a dog at the time he was making
Star
Wars named Indiana, and this was in fact who Indiana Jones was named
after. So the line in the film in which it is learned that Indiana Jones
was named after the family dog is in fact true.
-
Tom Stoppard did uncredited rewrites on the final version
of the film, and while he didn't get a credit he did receive $120,000,
and a bonus of $1 million after the film became so successful.
-
Most all of the Nazi uniforms seen in this film are actual
Nazi uniforms left over from World War II, not costumes.
