WHAT THE STUDIO WANTS YOU TO KNOW
DESCRIPTION:
Academy Award nominee Edward
Norton stars as scientist Bruce Banner, a man who has been living in the
shadows, scouting the planet for an antidote to the unbridled force of
rage within him: the Hulk. But when the military masterminds who dream
of exploiting his powers force him back to civilization, he finds himself
coming face to face with his most formidable foe: the Abomination - a nightmarish
beast of pure aggression whose powers match the Hulks own!
Also starring Liv Tyler, Oscar nominee
Tim Roth, and Oscar winner William Hurt, The Incredible Hulk is

This movie is based on a comic book series created by Stan
Lee and , Stan Lee has a cameo in this film as the man who drinks the infected
soda.
-
The voice of the transformed Hulk was done by Lou Ferrigno,
who played The Hulk in the television series The Incredible Hulk.
He also has a cameo as the security guard who receives a free pizza.
-
This originally was written as a direct sequel to 2003's
The
Hulk, however before filming began it was decided to start the franchise
over. Edward Norton completely re-wrote the script adding the character
of Doc Samson, and referencing other Marvel comics throughout the film.
The studio, director Louis Letterier and Marvel all approved of the script.
While Norton's script was the one used, due to WGA rules he did not receive
a writing credit for this film.
-
The theme from the original TV series "Lonely Man" is played
as Bruce Banner walks down a street in Mexico.
-
In the comics Abomination appears with scales and looks part
reptilian. For the film both Norton and director Louis Letterier decided
that while that looked cool it didn't really make sense as there was no
reptilian blood involved.
-
Both this film and Iron Man have endings alluding
to an Avengers movie, with possibly the Hulk becoming the villain.
Universal bought the rights to Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America and
Antman (which is the original line-up of The Avengers) with the intentions
of building separate franchises for them before combining them all into
one movie. Tony Stark, who is Iron Man, has a brief cameo in this film
as does several pieces of equipment labeled as being made by Stark Industries.
Captain America also appeared ever so briefly in a scene that did not make
the theatrical cut in which Bruce Banner went to Antarctica with the intentions
of killing himself but instead became the hulk and smashed an ice sheet
that when collapsing briefly showed the hero encased in ice. While the
character did not make the final cut, they did keep in a few lines referencing
him, such as stating that the research behind what transformed Bruce Banner
was born out of World War II research designed to create the perfect genetically
enhanced super-soldier, which is the back-story of Captain America.
