Hollywood's most notorious unsolved mystery, Hollywoodland is a
tale of galmour, scandel, and corruptionin 1950's Los Angeles. When George
Reeves (Ben Affleck), star of TV's Adventures Of Superman, is found
dead in his home, millions of fans are shocked by the circumstances of
his death. The police and studio bosses want the case closed as a suicide,
but rumors linger. Louis Simo (Adrien Brody), a private investigator, picks

Warner Brother refused to allow any real footage of the actual
Adventures
Of Superman, which meant that an entirely new opening for the series
had ot be shot just for the film.
-
D.C. Comics also had a hand in reshaping this movie. The
original title of this film was Truth Justice And The American Way,
which is one of Superman's catch phrases, however D.C. would not allow
the use of the copyrighted slogan. They also would not allow the Superman
symbol or costume to appear in any trailers or publicity, but they did
allow it in the actual film.
-
The title of this film refers to the original famed Hollywood
sign. The sign was originally a real estate advertisement for a housing
tract called Hollywoodland, and originally the sign actually read "Hollywoodland"
until the "land" portion was removed in 1949 and became a symbol for the
town in general.
