DESCRIPTION:
Here's the absolutely hysterical,
wonderfully wild, cosmic adventure comedy The Hitchhiker's Guide To
The Galaxy. Based on Douglas Adam's worldwide best-selling novel and
starring an outrageous intergalactic cast, this is one ride you don't want
to miss. Seconds before Earth is destroyed to make way for a new hyperspace
express route, mild-mannered Arthur Dent is whisked into space by his best
friend (an alien posing as an out of work actor). And so the misadventures
begin as he and fellow travelers, including the cool but dim-witted President
of the Galaxy, the Earth girl Trillian, and Marvin the paranoid android,
search for answers to the mystery of Life, the Universe and Everything.

-
This was the page I (Hefe) was working on when my daughter,
Isabelle Elizabeth was born.
-
This movie is based on the book, radio show, play, and TV
series written by Douglas Adams.
-
This movie was originally optioned in the early 1980's by
producrs Ivan Reitman, Joe Medjuck, and Michael C. Gross, the studio was
considering Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd for the role of Ford Perfect, but
then scrapped the idea when they received the script for Ghostbusters.
Since then the movie has been passed around Hollywood for years with numerous
director and cast changes. Adams tried his entire life to get this movie
made, he wrote numerous drafts of the script, but died before he ever saw
the movie made.
-
Although this script contains numerous changes from the previous
adaptations of the book, all of the changes were written by Douglas Adams
before his death, Karey Kirkpatrick was brought on bored when the movie
was green lit to help with structure and flow.
-
The lead character's name is Ford Perfect, however his last
name is never said in the movie, this was done intentionally by Douglas
Adams as he said this was a joke that American's would never understand.
He said this because the Ford Perfect was the name of a car that was sold
in Europe, Asia, and Australia by Ford, but was never sold in America.
-
The big computer called "Deep Thought" has a Mac logo on
the side of it, this is a reference to Douglas Adams strong support of
the Mac computer. He owned the first two Macs that were delivered to the
UK, while actor Stephen Fry owned the 3rd.
-
Before Sam Rockwell auditioned and won over director Garth
Jennings for the role of Zaphod Beeblebrox, many other actors were approached
about the role including, Will Ferrell, Bill Murray, and Robert Downey
Jr.
-
Writer Douglas Adams' mother can be seen in this movie as
the older woman reading a newspaper oblivious to the chaos going on around
her. Director Garth Jennings did not give any of the actors instructions
on what to do to create chaos so she just decided to sit down and read
the newspaper. Adam's brother, sister, and daughter can all be seen in
the panic as well.
