HEFE'S
REVIEW OF:
THE TERMINAL
Rating: B +
I really liked this movie, it was touching,
it was funny, it was inventive, it was a movie. The acting was terrific,
the story to die for, and the direction was outstanding. So what was the
thorn it the side of this movie that kept it from getting the rare A?
ACTING
TOM HANKS just never disappoints me, he
can make me feel every emotion in the book, except for horny, and really
I'm ok with that. Tom Hanks really has away of making a character himself
and making you the viewer totally buy it. It really is incredible that
you can forget who Tom Hanks is when you are watching him on the screen.
Somebody really should be notified of how good of an actor he is, I mean
he should really have won a few Oscars by now! Wah Wah Wahhhhhhhh!
CATHERINE ZETA-JONES may very well
be the thorn in the side of this movie. My God I cant' stand her, especially
on Chicago. I know this movie is nothing like that other
movie, but I have kept this inside a long time. Catherine really didn't
do a great job in this movie either, not that she really ever has. Plus
she has sex with Michael Douglas and his old balls, all the time. Put that
in a Twinkie and count the carbs.
STANLEY TUCCI was so kick ass in this
movie. I mean he is always good, but he was truly great here. He is a fantastic
character actor whether he is playing a recycling freak like in Jury
Duty, a terrible thief like in a personal favorite Undercover Blues,
or just playing a dick like in this movie. Stanley Tucci never disappoints,
and hardly ever reuses a character. That's why around my house when someone
does something terribly original we say "what a Tucci!"
DIRECTION AND SCRIPT
SACHA GERVASI and JEFF NATHANSON made
a really great script with great characters, and good dialogue to back
it up. It's like telling an old fashioned immigrant story in modern day,
in an airport. I really was amazed how well the story flowed, given that
the movie was written by two different people, usually when that happens
things don't mesh as well, but that definitely was not the case here.
STEVEN SPIELBERG once again proves why he is one of the
best directors in the biz. I know it's really cliche to like him since
everybody and the mother likes Spielberg, but I really think he does a
tremendous job. He captures every moment perfectly. The thing that is truly
amazing is how he can do this whether you are watching a horror, adventure,
or comedy movie. Spielberg is a rock man, not like Thing, it's a metaphor.
THE VERDICT
All in all this is a great movie, I would
highly recommend this movie to pretty much anyone who enjoys movies, and
even for people who don't. Great acting, great script, great direction,
and let me give a shout out to my man John Williams for the awesome soundtrack.
I actually commented a few times during the film at how much I liked the
music, and how appropriate all of the songs were to the film, it definitely
enhanced quite a few scenes. So there you have it, go check out this movie,
and try not to let Catherine Zeta-Jones ruin it for you.
