HEFE'S REVIEW
OF:
GOOD NIGHT,
AND
GOOD
LUCK.
(2005)
OPENING THOUGHTS
Now I have seen a this movie twice, the
first time around this movie got a favorable review, and earned my endorsement
and my pick of Best Picture of the year, even if I already knew that it
would not be the winner, I still wanted it to happen. So, now I have seen
it again, will my story change? Will I still like it so much? Will I ever
grow pubes? The answers are all ahead... zoom...
ACTING
DAVID STRATHAIRN
was absolutely fucking amazing in this film, he did such a good job. I
mean this movie basically revolved around watching him talk while smoking,
and walk while smoking, and of course being involved in a 34 person orgy...
while smoking. So naturally he had to be good, and good he was. I couldn't
take my eyes off him, he made every word count, every facial movement important,
I really felt like I had to hear what he was saying, I also really wanted
a pack of Camels.
GEORGE
CLOONEY had a pretty big role as well, as the behind the scenes sidekick
who didn't bother to wear a queer costume. All he did was kneel in front
of David Strathairn and tap him with a pen, and I think when the camera
panned away, may have licked his balls. He was ok, nothing too impressive,
but nothing bad either. If you like watching Clooney smirk, you will not
be disappointed.
JEFF DANIELS
drove a big fucking van that looked like a dog in this movie. He spent
a good amount of the time shitting and trying to steal the girl his best
friend likes. Wait... that was something else... hold on... yeah I saw
this big bloated guy who looked kind of like a mix between Jeff Daniels
and Uncle Joey from Full House. Way to go!
DIRECTION AND
SCRIPT
GEORGE CLOONEY
directed this movie, and he totally blew me away! I cannot believe how
good of a director he has become overnight. This film was beautifully shot,
I loved the choice of making it black and white, and he got amazing performances
out of everyone, especially David Stathairn. This movie was very solid,
and I think the majority of the credit for that lies with Clooney. My only
real complaint is the pacing of the movie, there were a few parts in the
movie where it seemed to drag a little bit. I would have liked to see a
little more excitement, I am not talking car explosions or anything, but
something to raise the tension a little bit, like I dunno maybe adding
a 35th member to the infamous orgy scene.
GEORGE
CLOONEY and GRANT HESLOV wrote the script
for this film, and they did it well. Considering this movie was carried
by dialogue alone, the words have to be very interesting and very poignant,
and believe me they were, every last smoke filled word. The story was well
thought out, and they did a good job of skipping over the unimportant parts
of the story. But again here is where I have to point out that I would
have liked to have seen a little more action, like maybe throwing in an
extra donkey to the orgy scene.
THE VERDICT
This movie stands firm and pulsating at
a B + rating, it was well acted, well written, and brilliantly directed.
Definitely the high point in George Clooney's career, a man whose high
points up until now included smirking and dawning a nippled out version
of the Bat Suit. This movie is probably not for everyone, people with ADD
will probably go out of their gords trying to keep focus on it, but me
being a history buff found this movie to be incredibly interesting. So
just to be clear if you can handle watching 93 minutes of smoky black and
white dialogue that makes you think about the past and how it relates to
today's problems, then I think you will like it. If you are just interested
in watching this movie for the orgy scene, than you should know a secret...
I made the orgy scene up... in reality there are only 9 people in the orgy...
giggle...

WHAT HE
SAID
THEN
HEFE'S QUICKIE REVIEW FROM BACK WHEN THIS MOVIE
WAS STILL IN THEATERS

When I first saw the previews for this
movie, I thought it looked cool, I can't explain it, but it looked like
it would be a really good movie. But then time when by I ate a lot of meals,
took many shits, and all of the sudden I forgot about this movie. But then
it came time for the Oscars and the Golden Globes and all of the sudden
this movie started getting nominations, then I remembered it, and I found
out that it was being re-released in theaters, so I decided to go and see
what it was all about. I found that I really enjoyed the movie, the story
was interesting, the dialogue smooth, and the look was just as cool as
the previews made it seem. I just can't believe that George "smirking fucking"
Clooney directed this movie. Oh, and David Strathairn did an amazing job.
This movie is certainly not for everyone, but if you like history and like
watching movies that are a little bit different then give it a look see.
If not I hope you die in a car crash on your way to see Final Destination
3, which I hope will finally be the final one.
