HEFE'S REVIEW OF:
AIR FORCE ONE

OPENING THOUGHTS

Did you know that any plane the President of The United States is on automatically becomes Air Force One? You did? Well did you know that any car the I Hefe get into automatically becomes a love machine? Well it's true and I love riding in cars...

ACTING

HARRISON FORD is great, I love him, I will watch anything that he makes, and even when he makes a shitty movie like Random Hearts, I will instantly throw it out of my mind and watch for his next film. He is the ultimate every-man, and even though I know in then end of whatever film I am watching he will win, I will still root for him with all of my heart through out the whole film. Air Force One is no exception, I rooted for him the whole time, and I kept thinking how great it would be if Harrison Ford was President. I would vote for him in a second, and I think everyone else would too, I mean, if nothing else he has a great Presidential name, and I think being in all of those political thrillers will really help out his international policies.
GARY OLDMAN is a great villain, he is a great actor all around, but I love it when he plays a villain. Here a played a crazy Russian who wanted the old USSR back and he did a great job. I believed that he believed his beliefs were valid, even though they were loony. While I liked his character in The Professional better, he definitely held his own here.
DEAN STOCKWELL must have gotten lost, I can only assume that Ziggy gave him bad directions and he will be back helping Sam in no time.

DIRECTION AND SCRIPT

WOLFGANG PETERSEN has an awesome name, but makes lame movies. There was nothing spectacular here, it was certainly not his worst movie, and it was better than Troy, but is that really saying a lot?
ANDREW W. MARLOWE wrote a pretty average script here. The idea of a hostage situation on Air Force One is original, but in the end it was pretty standard stuff. If it had not been for the great actors this movie would have been forgettable. I would also like to point out here that I think it is hilarious that the thing that everyone says makes Harrison Ford's character a good President is when he gives his speech about not negotiating with terrorists and not hiding behind politics and rules to stop bad people in the world who are doing things that are morally wrong. I don't know if this sounds familiar to anyone else, but this sounds a lot like what George W. Bush tried to do and say, although I would say in the real world that didn't go over so well. I just thought that was funny...

THE VERDICT

All in all this was an average movie, with above average actors. There is no reason to not watch this movie, but I can tell you that there are better movies out there. But if you are a fan of Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman, or Quantum Leap, then give the movie a go, I doubt you will be disappointed.
