HEFE'S REVIEW OF:
ADVERTISING RULES!

OPENING THOUGHTS

I am not usually a big fan of foreign films, mostly because I hate reading what everyone is saying, but after now seeing a few of them with subtitles I have discovered that if you can just get through your first few then it becomes much easier. Anyway, on to this movie, as I said I am not usually a big fan of foreign films, but this movie was actually pretty good. The acting was pretty good, and the story was interesting, plus it had the element of anarchy in the movie, which I happen to be a fan of.

ACTING

ALEXANDER SCHEER plays the title role of Viktor Vogel, and he does a fairly good job in this movie, if nothing else, his character was very consistant and was fun to watch. However, Scheer was very much over-shadowed by one of his co-stars.
GOTZ GEORGE was that co-star, he plays Viktor's more experienced partner at "Brainstorm" an advertising firm that Viktor was just hired on to. George's acting seems very natural, and I felt that he did a good job portraying the various moods that his character experiences as he changes from a cutthroat buisness man to Viktor's friend in chaos.
THE SUPPORTING CAST was made up of a bunch of other crazy Germans, some were good some were just ok, but no else worth mentioning... unless you are talking about some fucked up German porno that they might have been in, then they might be worth mentioning.

DIRECTION AND SCRIPT

LARS KRAUME and TOM SCHLESINGER wrote the script for this movie, and if I had read the actuaal script I would not be able to understand it, on account of being written in German and all. But as it happens I read the movie in English subtitles, and I have to say it wasn't bad. Some lines were a bit cheezy, but I enjoyed the idea of the movie over-all, and I can't say it enough, there is just something about fucking anarchy that really gets me going, like I just gotta fuck something you know? Hmm, well, I don't know either but it was a feeling and I went with it, wrong or right it's out there on the table for you to deciede what to do with... be gentle...

THE VERDICT

I would reccomend this movie to anyone who wants a light-hearted comedy, but not wanting to go down the "romantic comedy" road. I would compare it to the same type of humor found in Saving Grace. This movie has a nice mix of story, compassion, humor, and of course my favorite... anarchy! Oh one last note, I am really tired of movies being billed as "fresh", "hip", and "stylish". I thought maybe in a foreign film I might be able to escape such shitty attempts to appeal to youth, but as you can see in the first sentence of the description this infestation has spread accross the globe.
