HEFE'S REVIEW OF:
2 DAYS

OPENING THOUGHTS

This movie totally shocked me. I had never really heard of it, and for some reason I decided to watch it, and let me tell you I am really glad that I did. The dialogue in this movie is fantastic, and Paul Rudd did a really good job.

ACTING

PAUL RUDD definitely made this move great. I had no idea he was able to play a character like this one. You were able to see how tortured this guy really was, but at the same time see what everyone would miss if he was gone. He really did an excellent job. I really don't know why Paul Rudd isn't an A list actor, if you have seen Wet Hot American Summer than you know he can do comedy, and this role proved to me that he can do drama, so what's the deal Hollywood, why have you not completely embarrassed Paul Rudd, I'm waiting! Look at me when I am talking to you! You son of a bitch!
THE SUPPORTING CAST in this movie was huge, most of the B level celebrities with Donal Logue being the biggest of the group. Over all the supporting cast was pretty good. Most of them were well defined, and seemed to have a clear direction they were going. All though I think a lot of this was good writing.

DIRECTION AND SCRIPT

SEAN MCGINLY did a great job with the script, especially the dialogue. The dialogue really made this movie. It kind of reminded me of a Kevin Smith movie. Swearing was placed throughout the script in such a way that it was funny, and the exchanges between the characters were smart. I must say this was very unexpected.
The direction in this movie was pretty good, but I think it would have been better if this was shot on film instead of on video. I say this because most of the movie was seen through the eyes of a video camera, but it was sort of confusing when it would switch from an actual video camera to just omnipotent viewer, because it looked exactly the same. It made it kind of distracting, because I found myself trying to figure out which camera I was seeing the action through. I think that if film was used on the parts that were not supposed to be through the eyes of a video camera it would have made the movie much better. I do suspect this was probably not a choice, rather this was done out of necessity since film costs a shit load of money, and I doubt this movie was given a large budget, which I might add was a shame. I hope to see more from you in the future Sean McGinly.

THE VERDICT

If you like quirky movies that are dialogue driven (like Kevin Smith movies) than you should check this movie out. The quality is not as good as it should have been thanks to a low budget I suspect, but the script is solid enough to make the movie worth watching anyway. Paul Rudd is really good in this movie, so that's one more reason to give this dark comedy a try. So... your still here... that's cool... you should probably go though.
