No, this is not the Matt Damon CIA
movie. That's The Good Shepherd. It's different. This is the black
& white mystery with George Clooney that takes place in post WWII Berlin.
It's filmed in the style of a 1940's old Hollywood film. They used old
equipment and lighting and filmed it just like they would've back in 1945,
but they also had R rated language, nudity, violence, and sex which all
wasn't allowed back then. The mix made for a really interesting movie.
I liked it. And I liked that at one point a frustrated George Clooney says,
"Fuck a duck!" Putting aside the style and the duck fucking, the story
was pretty good too. It was a compelling example of the tough situations
that had to be dealt with in Germany after WWII. There was some pretty
good acting too. George Clooney is impossibly handsome and his performance
was good even though he was constantly getting his shit pushed in by everyone,
including little Toby Maguire. Maguire was kind of hard to take as a bad
guy, but he did a good job playing a little shit. And I though Cate Blanchett
was phenomenal as the mysterious German woman. She is a real looker. A
gorgeous dame. I guess what I'm saying is, I wouldn't mind being her fella'.
She has one of those faces that should only be described using poetry.
So I'm not going to try to describe her beauty because I don't wanna sound
like a queer'er nuthin'. But let me just say her German accent was top
notch! Overall I enjoyed this movie. It gets kind of slow in the middle
but the direction, the score, and the acting are all great. It's worth
finding a theater that is playing at. Check Fandango!
