• This movie is based on the play of the same name written by Peter Morgan who adapted the script to film himself.
• Ron Howard only agreed to direct the movie if the original leads in the Broadway production, Frank Langella and Michael Sheen, were allowed to reprise their roles.
• Frank Langella said in interviews that he usually breaks character in between filming his scenes and enjoys playing cards with the cast and crew. However, he felt doing that in this film would hurt his performance, so he always tried to remain acting presidential and forced everyone on set to refer to him as Mr. President.
• Director Ron Howard revealed in an interview that he voted for Richard Nixon in 1972.
