WHAT THE STUDIO WANTS YOU TO KNOW
DESCRIPTION:
A ticking-time bomb insomniac
(Edward Norton) and a slippery soap salesman (Brad Pitt) channel primal
male aggression into a shocking form of therapy. Their concept catches
on, with underground "fight clubs" forming in every town, until a sensuous
eccentric (Helena Bonham Carter) gets in the way and ignites an out-of-control
spiral toward oblivion.
The New York Times raved that
Fight
Club "just might require another viewing." Here's your chance. Brace
yourself.

TRIVIA TO IMPRESS YOUR EASILY IMPRESSED

-
This movie is based on the book of the same name by Chuck
Palahniuk. When he saw the changed ending in the film adaptation, he remarked
that he liked the movie ending better then his own.
-
The splices of porno that Tyler Durden puts into the kids
film, are actually spliced into this movie in 4 different places.
-
Although Edward Norton's character's name is never revealed
during the film he is commonly referred to as the narrator and is listed
in the credits as Tyler Durden. However, original press packets for the
movie has his character listed as Jack. Although if you watch the subtitles,
every time he speaks the name Rupert is credited.
-
Right after the copyright warning comes on the screen a message
from Tyler Durden pops on the screen for a moment. The message says: "If
you are reading this then this warning is for you. Every word you read
of this useless fine print is another second off your life. Don't you have
other things to do? Is your life so empty that you can't think of a better
way to spend these moments? Or are you so impressed with authority that
you give respect and credence to all who claim it? Do you read everything
you're supposed to read? Do you think everything you're supposed to think?
Buy what you're told you should wear? Get out of your apartment. Meet a
member of the opposite sex. Stop the excessive shopping and masturbation.
Quit your job. Start a fight. Prove you're alive. If you don't claim your
humanity you will become a statistic. You have been warned... Tyler."
-
The scene in which Edward Norton and Brad Pitt are pounding
on the VW Bug was actually an inside joke. Both Norton and Pitt had both
discussed their hatred for the newly designed Bug and Fincher allowed them
to take out their rage on camera.
