Writer Don Payne says he drew inspiration for the story for
the movie from Fantastic Four comics #48 and #57-60. Although several
important distinctions from the comic and the movie can be seen. In the
comic the Silver Surfer draws his power from the Power Cosmic, while in
the movie it is drawn solely from his surf board. Also Galactus is usually
represented as a 50 foot giant robot in the comics, however in the movie
he is represented as a strong wind.
-
Stan Lee the creator of the Fantastic Four series
can be seen in a cameo as a rejected wedding guest. He was also seen in
the first film as a mailman.
-
Although many Marvel adaptations have been done over the
years, this marks the first one to receive a PG rating since Howard
The Duck in 1986.
-
While the voice of The Silver Surfer was done by Laurence
Fishburne, the movements were done by using a motion capture suit attached
to actor Doug Jones. The same actor who did the movements for the character
Abe Sapien in Hell Boy as well as the Faun in Pan's Labyrinth.
