On the main title screen of the DVD, if you move the cursor
down using your DVD remote and highlight the cobra symbol and hit enter
it will open an Easter Egg. This Easter Egg is Ben Stiller telling you
that while watching the movie if you press enter on your DVD remote everytime
he snaps his fingers you will get to see an additional Easter Egg surprise.
-
While throwing dodgeballs, actor Ben Stiller managed to break
3 cameras and hit his wife Christine Taylor in the face, all while shooting
the same scene.
-
Studios were convinced that this film would not make very
much money at the box office and many studios passed on this project. 20th
Century Fox only agreed to finance the movie with a minimal budget of $23
million dollars, and after Ben Stiller agreed to lower his salary to well
under $1 million dollars. The film ended up grossing over $114 million
in box office receipts in America alone.
-
This film's ending was changed after test audiences indicated
they wanted a happy conclusion to the film. Because of this last minute
change the final scene after the credits role featuring a fat Ben Stiller
talking about cliche Hollywood endings was added.
-
If you watch the documentary instead of thoughtful insight
you will hear a staged argument between Ben Stiller and writer/director
Rawson Marshall Thruber. 40 minutes into the movie the pair storm out and
the commentary is replaced by the commentary for There's Something About
Mary. However, there is a serious commentary, it is one of the Easter
Eggs that has to be unlocked.
