-
This film is based off of the book of the same name by Andrew
Neiderman.
-
Joel Shumacher was originally set to direct this film but
dropped off the project paving the way for Traylor Hackford.
-
The lead role did not always belong to Keanu Reeves, in fact
John Cusack and Edward Norton were also considered. Brad Pitt was actually
slated to play the role, but left the project when Joel Shumacher left.
-
The boxing match that Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves attend was
an actual fight that happened on October 4th 1996. The crew really did
run into Don King at the bout accidentally and decided to put him in the
movie.
-
Al Pacino's character is named John Milton after the author
who wrote Paradise Lost about man's fall from the grace of God.
A passage from the book is used near the end of the film with the line,
"Better to reign in Hell then serve in Heaven" is said by Reeves.
