TRIVIA TO IMPRESS YOUR EASILY IMPRESSED FRIENDS

• This movie is based on the comic Hellblazer by Jamie Delano and Garth Ennis.
• This movie's title was changed from the comic book's actual name Hellblazer, because the producers felt it sounded too much like Hellraiser. Ironically the original name of the comic was Hellraiser but had to be changed when the Clive Barker movie was released before the first comic.
• In the comic this movie is based on, the main character has blonde hair, is British, and was modeled after the singer Sting. Many people had suggested that the look and nationality of the character was changed for Keanu Reeves, but in reality the first script with the original character in tact was rejected. After the script was reworked to have the main character be an American from Los Angeles, the script was approved.
• Originally this movie had Nicolas Cage signed on in the title role and Tarsem Singh to direct. Singh left the project saying that he could not make the movie he wanted to with Cage as the lead. Shortly after Cage also left the project.
• Peter Stormare auditioned for the role of Balthazar which ended up going to Bush front man Gavin Rossdale, while Stormare took the part of Satan.
