This movie is based on the children's book of the same name
written by E.B. White. This film was previously adapted to film in 1973
animated movie by Earl Hamner Jr.

Danny Elfman dropped off of scoring Spider-Man 3 in
order to do the music for this film. However long time collaborator Tim
Burton turned down the director's chair as he was busy working on a screen
adaptation of Sweeny Todd.

There were a total of 47 Wilburs used on the making of this
movie. Most of the pigs were taught to do one specific motion and nothing
else so many pigs were required in order to get all of the necessary shots.

Most of this film was shot in Victoria, Australia, and many
local actors were hired as extras, however many of them had to be repeatedly
reminded to speak with an American accent.
