This movie is based on the book of the same name by Helen Fieldings.
In the book, Hugh Grant's character is a lot smaller, but was expanded for the movie due to the popularity of his character from the first movie.
Reports say that after intense negotiations, Renee Zellweger received somewhere between 10 and 16 million dollars to reprise her role as Bridget Jones. That's quite a pay raise considering the first film she reportedly earned a measly 3 to 5 million.
