• Uma Thurman landed her role at the request of John Travolta who thought the pair had good chemistry in Pulp Fiction.
• Before F. Gary Gray became the director of this film, Brett Ratner was the man in the chair, but he dropped out for unknown reasons.
• Joe Pesci was also supposed to be in this movie but at the last minute pulled out of the film.
• Elmore Leonard, the author of the book in which this movie is based on, named The Rock's character, Eliot Wilhelm, after a real-life movie critic who made a cameo in the Viper Room scene.
