Most of the spiders seen in this movie are in fact real spiders.
The smaller spiders are Avondale spiders flown in from New Zealand. These
spiders are harmless to humans and are in fact more closely related to
crabs that spiders. The large spider however is a huge bird eating tarantula
whose leg span is about 8 inches across. This spider can bite and seriously
harm a human if the bite is not treated. The spiders were handled on the
set by famed entomologist Steven R. Kutcher.

This is the first movie to be released under the Hollywood
Pictures banner. Hollywood Pictures is in fact owned by Disney, and this
company was created so that the company could release movies that were
more adult orientated.
