TRIVIA TO IMPRESS YOUR EASILY IMPRESSED FRIENDS

• While the speaking voices of Aladdin and Jasmine were done by Scott Weinger and Linda Larkin. However the singing voices were done by Brad Kane and Lea Salonga.
• The original story of Aladdin is based on a Chinese legend, however the film portrays it as an Arabic tale.
• Robin Williams had agreed to the voice of the Genie for Union Scale, the smallest amount an actor can be paid for a role. He did this with a promise from Disney that his voice would not be used in any marketing and that the Genie not take up more that 25% of any ad, billboard, or trailer for the film. Disney did not keep that promise and as a result Williams withdrew his support for the film and refused to work them on future projects. Then CEO Michael Eisner tried to apologize by giving Williams an original Pablo Picaso painting, however Williams refused. As a result in the 2nd installment of the series and the TV show spin-off Dan Castellaneta took over the role. For the third film Castellaneta had recorded the voice work but by then Disney had fired the producer of Aladdin and the new CEO made a public apology to Williams and he agreed to come back and voice the Genie once again.
• This movie was rumored to have the line "all cute girls take off your clothes" hidden in the film. However Disney has said that the line is actually a line said by Aladdin directed at Raja: "Nice kitty, take off and go, go on..." However the line does not appear in the DVD re-release of the film.
• There was almost 16 hours of unused Robin Williams improvising that did not appear in the film.
• Several main characters that appeared in early drafts of the film, were cut completely by the final draft. Those cut include Aladdin's mother and his three best friends: Babkak, Omar, and Kassim.
