TRIVIA TO IMPRESS YOUR EASILY IMPRESSED FRIENDS

• The studio bought a used 747 plane from a Japanese airline and had it repainted to look like Air Force One at a cost of $300,000.
• The prison in which Radek is supposed to be in Russia, is actually Mansfield Penitentiary in Ohio, it is the same prison used in The Shawshank Redemption.
• Two weeks before the film was completed director Wolfgang Petersen threw out Randy Newman's score for the movie saying it was "too loud and blatty". He then hired Jerry Goldsmith to compose a new score in the alotted 2 weeks. Goldsmith was reportedly so stressed out by the time constraint that he now requires months notice to do a movie score.
• At the beginning of the film Gary Oldman's character, Valera has his thumb scanned to get on bored Air Force One, on the computer monitor it displays his birthday as 03/21/58, which is Gary Oldman's actual birthday.
