    Director Spike Jonze delivers a stunningly original comedy that seamlessly blends fictional characters and situations with the lives of real people: obsessive orchid hunter John Laroche (Cooper), New Yorker journalist Susan Orlean (Streep), Hollywood screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (Cage), and his twin brother Donald (also Cage). As Charlie struggles to adapt Orlean's best-selling book "The Orchid Thief," he writes himself into his own movie. The various stories crash into one another exploding into a wildly imaginative film. Adaptation, the year's most talked about movie is at once a hilarious drama and a moving comedy.

TRIVIA TO IMPRESS YOUR EASILY IMPRESSED FRIENDS

• Even though the character of Donald Kaufman is fictional, filmmakers still gave him a writing credit, and when the movie was nominated for Best Screenplay at the Oscars it became the first time a fictional character was nominated in any category. This movie is also dedicated to "The Loving Memory of Donald Kaufman."
• This movie is said to be based on the book The Orchid Thief, but in actuality is based on real life screenwriter Charlie Kaufman's struggle to adapt the novel.
• Brian Cox plays a character named Robert McKee, a script wizard that helps Charlie and Donald Kaufman out. Robert McKee is a real person, and McKee personally recommended that Brian Cox portray him in this film.
• The song Happy Together by The Turtles was used throughout the film, originally Spike Jonze had the band Weezer do an updated version of the song for the film, but Jonze changed his mind and decided the original would suit the film better.
