The organization that Schmidt uses to adopt his foster child
is called Childreach. This is a real organization, and the company has
used posters and stills from the movie in many of it's advertising campaigns
and company literature since this film's release. Ndugu, the boy that was
adopted in the film, is an actual little boy named Abdallah Mtulu that
was adopted by the film crew through the organization. They set up a lifetime
endowed scholarship in his name.
